The galaxy’s most adventurous organization started as a tight-knit community that helped their neighbors survive the chaos on Absalom Station following The Gap. In 10 AG, the first members of the Starfinder Society Forum were elected and began funding expeditions. Since then, the Starfinder Society has been at the forefront of galactic exploration. Field agents form adventuring parties that take on missions into Near Space and The Vast to uncover the secrets of lost civilizations or discover magical and technological innovations from alien cultures. An elected First Seeker leads the Society, dedicating years of the Society’s efforts to a specific goal, before stepping down and allowing a new Starfinder to take the helm.

Over the years, the Society has endured several notable setbacks. First, the Stardust Plague turned popular opinion against exploring distant space, as fears mounted about what diseases or malign forces could be unleashed. First Seeker Lanrah’s tenure ended with her disastrous attempt to discover the truth behind the Gap, causing her death and a complete restructuring within the Society, plus a rule against future First Seekers from exploring the cause of the Gap. Later events like the Scoured Stars Incident and Data Scourge decimated the Society’s resources, but the tenacious organization always bounces back.
